1.Positioning accuracy
In terms of accuracy, the linear guide transmission mechanism reduces the problem of interpolation lag. The positioning accuracy, reproducibility, and absolute accuracy are all easier to achieve through position detection feedback control than rotary motor + ball screw.
2.Repeatability accuracy comparison
The transmission mechanism is simple, reducing the problem of interpolation lag. On the contrary, the gap of the screw is easy to have an impact, so the linear guide is easier to achieve.
3.Speed comparison
Generally, due to the centrifugal force, the servo motor will be subject to greater stress when operating at high speed, so the speed and output power are limited. Relatively speaking, the linear guide is not limited and has no mechanical loss, thereby increasing the transmission speed.
4.Stroke comparison
From the perspective of stroke, the stroke of the linear guide depends on the stator and the mover. Theoretically, the linear guide can be extended indefinitely; while the servo guide + screw is usually only 4M in length due to the influence of factors such as load, screw outer diameter, and accuracy level.
5.Simple maintenance
The linear guide has few parts, the moving machinery is non-contact, and there is little or no maintenance. Servo motors have many screw rod structures and many parts, and require frequent maintenance or replacement of accessories.
6.Life Comparison
Linear guides: Linear guides have no direct contact between the moving parts and the fixed parts, and will not be worn due to the high-speed movement of the mover. Even if they are used for a long time, the motion accuracy will not change, so the life is longer.
Servo motor + screw rod: The ball screw causes wear of the transmission parts due to high-speed movement, and it can no longer ensure accuracy in high-speed reciprocating motion, thus affecting the accuracy.
