Choosing the right coupling is crucial to the reliability, efficiency and life of the transmission system. The main considerations include:
1.Transmitted torque: The working torque, starting torque and maximum torque (considering the safety factor) need to be calculated. The rated torque of the coupling must meet the requirements.
2.Speed: The coupling has a maximum operating speed limit (especially for flexible couplings, the centrifugal force has a great influence).
3.Shaft diameter: The coupling aperture range needs to match the diameter of the shafts at both ends.
4.Inter-axis deviation: Accurately evaluate and measure the radial, axial and angular displacements that may exist in the system and their directions. The compensation capacity of the selected coupling must be greater than the actual deviation.
5.Environmental conditions: Temperature, humidity, dust, oil, chemicals, whether explosion-proof is required, etc. Affects material selection and seal design.
6.Dynamic characteristics: Is there a risk of impact load and torsional vibration? Is high/low torsional stiffness required? Is damping required?
7.Installation and maintenance space: Radial and axial space limitations, whether it is easy to disassemble and maintain.
8.Cost and life: Initial cost and life cycle cost (including maintenance and replacement costs).
9.Special requirements: Is electrical insulation required? Is overload protection required? Is zero clearance required (servo system)? Is long life and maintenance-free required?
