There are many linear motion components on industrial automation devices to achieve high-precision motion control. In the following content, let’s take a brief look at the five common linear motion components: linear guides, linear bearings, oil-free bushings, ball screws, and guide shafts:
1.Linear guides
Linear guides are also called linear rails, slide rails, linear guides, and linear slide rails. They are used in linear reciprocating motion occasions and can bear a certain torque. They can achieve high-precision linear motion under high loads. In mainland China, they are called linear guides, and in Taiwan, they are generally called linear guides and linear slide rails.
2.Linear bearings
Linear bearings are devices that use steel balls to achieve linear motion. Since they can achieve low-friction linear motion with a simple structure, they are widely used in transportation devices, semiconductor manufacturing devices and other fields.
3.Oil-free bushings
Oil-free bushings can be designed to achieve self-lubrication, and work smoothly, reliably, and without noise. Under liquid lubrication conditions, the sliding surfaces are separated by lubricating oil without direct contact, which can also greatly reduce friction loss and surface wear. The oil film also has a certain vibration absorption ability.
4.Ball screw
The ball screw consists of a screw, a nut, a steel ball, a preload, a reverser, and a dust collector. Its function is to convert rotational motion into linear motion. This is a further extension and development of the Akem screw. The important significance of this development is to convert the bearing from sliding motion to rolling motion.
5.Guide shaft
Guide shafts and supports are extremely widely used in the automation industry. Guide shafts are divided into linear guide shafts for linear motion, rotating shafts for rotation, and rods for support purposes. Guide shaft supports are usually used in conjunction with guide shafts, linear bearings, etc. to fix the shaft and ensure transmission.
The above is a brief introduction to the five common linear motion components. I hope it will be helpful to you!
